Extra Time

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 June 2026

Extra Time is an independent companion app for following the 2026 football tournament. We built it to be private by default: there are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party tracking. This policy explains the little data that is involved and your rights over it.

Who runs Extra Time

Extra Time is published by Rene Schalk. The best way to reach us about anything in this policy is info@etapp.football.

What we collect

We do not collect account, profile, advertising, analytics, or tracking data. Your favorite team, your free-trial status, your bracket picks, and whether you've finished onboarding are stored only on your device (in standard iOS storage and the Keychain). We operate no account system and hold no profile that identifies you. The one limited exception is your IP address, explained next.

Football data & your IP address

To show live standings, fixtures, and stats, the app requests public football data through our lightweight proxy at etapp.football. As with any internet request, our edge provider (Cloudflare) receives your device's IP address to route the request. We then fetch the football data from a third-party sports-data provider from our own server, so that provider receives our server's request, not your IP. An IP address can be personal data under EU/UK law, so we explain it here even though we do not link it to you. We use your IP only to route your request, do not store it after the request is served, and never use it to identify, track, advertise to, or profile you.

Legal basis (GDPR). We process your IP address as necessary to provide the football data you request (Art. 6(1)(b)). If we process short-lived logs for security, abuse prevention, or reliability, we rely on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

International data transfers

We use Cloudflare as an infrastructure processor and API-SPORTS (api-football.com) as the football-data source. They may process request data, including your IP address, on servers outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (for example Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK IDTA); you can request details at info@etapp.football.

Sharing a bracket

When you share a bracket, your picks are encoded directly into the share link itself. No account or personal information is involved, and we do not store the shared bracket on our servers.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never see or receive your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles that.

Tracking & analytics

We do not track you. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA), no App Tracking Transparency prompt, no analytics SDK, and no third-party tracker in the app.

Retention

Your rights

Because we hold no account or profile that identifies you, there is normally no personal data of yours for us to look up. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you nonetheless have the right to request access to, correction of, erasure of, or restriction of any personal data we hold, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email info@etapp.football. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

Children

The app is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect account, profile, contact, advertising, analytics, or tracking information from children (including those under the digital-consent age in your country, which is 13–16 depending on the EU member state).

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
